The mental overhead of switching between - and keeping track of - messaging apps shouldn't be ignored.

Speaking from experience, I have a hard time remembering which specific platform is preferred by specific contacts. It's a minor annoyance, but it's always present.

How many messenger apps do you run, and how many is too many?

For me, the limit is 2. Note that currently I am forced to keep 5 different apps to keep in touch with my contacts.

The 'misreads' are usually dead ends to discussion unless qualified back to original topic. I would not consider downvotes here personal, they simply steer the conversation to remain on track.

thank you for sharing this

Try using the Incognito Mode in Chrome.

Of course, that will only give you a public view of a profile, but it seems to hide your identity nonetheless.

Those looking to find a permanent residence are being pushed/priced out simply due to lack of inventory.

Take a look at this Yelp business: http://www.yelp.com/biz/morgan-automotive-portland

It has 33 5-star reviews that are "unapproved", and eight 1-star promoted reviews that amount to a 2 star overall rating. I'd say that's an undeserved bad reputation. And no matter how many good reviews there are, the 1-star ratings are still the only ones weighing in.

In comparison, Google review page has a near perfect 5-star non-curated rating - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&e...

The real kicker here is that to get to these 5 star Yelp reviews, you have to navigate a barely legible grey link at the bottom of the page. Purposefully hiding good reviews until the business pays for membership borders extortion to me.

Thanks for this example

I see 1 5-star, 4 2-stars, 3 1-star, the rest is closed

Now, if you see the hidden reviews, there are a lot of "5-star" ones (which are really 3 or 4 star) but a lot of 1-star ones as well

A lot of them are from people with a few friends (however, a lot of them seem to come from "high-quality" posters)

Well, Yelp better watch out if Google can give a better result

It's never quite that extreme. I've yet to see a respected publisher devolve into GIF-delivered content out of financial constraints.

That said, there are plenty of free publications with quality writing. Paying for an article hardly correlates with its excellence.

Check in with The New Republic in a year or so.

I can guarantee that your Loyale is not comparable to the safety ratings of any new cars. That's a HUGE deciding factor in the used vs new car debate. I'd wager you didn't factor that into your purchasing decision.

People with families have passengers' safety to think about when buying a car.

Aside from that, while you seem apathetic about the social value surrounding your car - others see the status of a new car as well worth the premium. For those people it can be a hobby or a source of major self-validation and pride.

Brush him off.

As a foreigner I feel the same about English and its declining quality of grammar on the web

I think it's just an evolution. Not every experiment is successful.
