"PM" is strategic ambiguity -- it's actually a benefit that it can mean either, because a product manager at one company might be called a project manager at another, and vice-versa. And don't forget "program manager" as a third variant.

All three titles tell you nothing about what the job is at a specific company, because every company defines them a little (or a lot) differently. Hence: "PM".
