Not the first time they had done this. My first job was actually developing a replacement for a Silverlight App from a company heavily invested in ms/.net/c# in JS/HTML5. They were super heavily invested in Silverlight (easy decision as most of their codebase was WPF/C# already) and in the end it bit them.
