What's being described with global mean temperature is not the temperature of any region, weather event, etc. A 2C warming can be a +10C in one region and a -5C in another. The magnitude global mean temperature rise does not imply anything in particular about "summers" or anything of the kind.

And, in addition to that, a higher temperature means globally more energy in the system. Which means more extreme events, storms, heatwaves, etc.
